2011 Beckett Massive Online Gamer Reader’s Choice Awards Results

Best MMO of 2011
Winner: EVE Online (CCP)
Runner-up: Rift (Trion Worlds)

Despite a tumultuous year, EVE fans turned out in force to vote their game the #1 in all the land. It was a close vote, too, with newcomer Rift coming in just two percentage points behind. WoW was a distant third. There’s always next year…

Best New MMO of 2011
Winner: Rift (Trion Worlds)
Runner-up: DC Universe Online (SOE)

But not in this category, where Rift took top honors by an eight-to-one margin over its next closest competitor. Next year, this category should be a bloodbath, with most of the games in the “Most Anticipated” category launching soon.

Best Fantasy MMO of 2011
Winner: Aion (NCSoft)
Runner-up: Rift (Trion Worlds)

Another close race saw Rift come up just short – just 400 votes short, in fact. Probably the quietest successful MMO out there, Aion, took top honors, which isn’t bad for a game that a lot of people wrote off two years ago.

Best Non-Fantasy MMO of 2011
Winner: EVE Online (CCP)
Runner-up: DC Universe Online (SOE)

No surprise here, with EVE taking this category for the second year in a row. While we applaud the winners, one has to wonder if that “other” sci-fi game will be dominating this category for years to come.

Best New F2P MMO of 2011
Winner: Age of Conan (Funcom)
Runner-up: Champions Online (Cryptic)

We morphed this category into “Best New F2P” since pretty much every game out there is F2P now. So congrats to Age of Conan and Champions Online! But we’re betting you won’t win next year.

Best Kid-Friendly/Family MMO of 2011
Winner: Wizard101 (KingsIsle Entertainment)
Runner-up: LEGO Universe (LEGO Group)

Last year’s uber-game, Wizard101, only took one category this year, but the bigger surprise might be the #2 game. LEGO Universe will be shut down on Jan. 31, 2012, so enjoy it while you can.

Best MOBA of 2011
Winner: League of Legends (Riot Games)
Runner-up: World of Tanks (Wargaming.net)

With 32 million registered accounts, it’s easy to see why League of Legends won this category. But really – do you think Caitlyn or Master Yi could stand up to a Panzer? (Teemo, maybe.)

Most-Anticipated MMO
Winner: Star Wars: The Old Republic (BioWare)
Runner-up: Guild Wars 2 (ArenaNet)

SWTOR and GW2 flip-flopped their positions from last year, but it’s going to be really interesting to see how this category performs next year when both these games, as well as other high-profile new MMOs, are off the table.

Congratulations to all the winners! You can also read this article in the Mar/Apr 2012 issue of Beckett Massive Online Gamer.

NCsoft is the publisher IE the investors who give them the cash to make the game. NCsoft is nothing like EA they understand games need time to make and so they never rush any of their games out, and give the companies the time they need. Personally they know how to make MMO’s and that they can’t be rushed.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any issues of
plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it looks like
a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization.

Do you know any solutions to help stop content from being stolen?
    I’d truly appreciate it.

  9. It’s a shame you don’t have a donate button! I’d definitely donate to
this superb blog! I guess for now i’ll settle for book-marking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account.

I look forward to brand new updates and will talk about this site
with my Facebook group. Talk soon!

Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be
on the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed
while people think about worries that they just don’t know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having
side effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back
    to get more. Thanks
